String Phones

4th May 23

Year 4 have been making traditional string telephones as part of our topic on sound. We will go on to investigate whether varying the string or paper cups makes a difference to the quality of the “phone calls”.

We have also measured the speed of sound in the playground, where 80m gives us just enough distance to experience the delay in the sound reaching us.

And we have chatted about breaking the sound barrier, looking at video footage of the sonic booms created by Concorde and professional whip crackers.
