7+ to 9+ Discovery Day

Our most recent Discovery Day for boys and girls aged 7-9, who are looking to join the school in Years 3-5 (September 2025), took place in February.

What happens at the Discovery Day?

Bring your children in for the start of the school day (8.45am) and meet our Headmaster, Mr Sam Gosden, who’ll be happy to answer all your questions about life at The Mall.

Leave your children with us to go on to fun team-building activities, Lego challenges and enriching taster lessons with our current pupils and teachers.

After break, when they can play with their future classmates, children will have an informal evaluation of their academic progress, then enjoy a delicious lunch in our dining room.  The day finishes with an engaging art and design activity.  Please collect them at 3.00pm.

Why choose The Mall School?

  • We offer a supportive, nourishing family environment in which teachers know each child and family individually
  • Your children will benefit from our outstanding facilities, including our 20-metre indoor swimming pool, theatre, sports hall, excellent outdoor spaces and creative arts opportunities
  • We challenge pupils in the areas that matter most to them. Well-roundedness is at the core of the school, but we recognise and celebrate individual pupils’ abilities and differences
  • Coupled with our resources, facilities and co-curricular provision, pupils benefit from a broad and strong curriculum, delivered from our long-standing staff
  • Co -curricular after school clubs offer an exciting variety for pupils of all ages, which develop their cultural, moral, spiritual and emotional experiences. Many clubs are free and run every week during term-time, ranging from 3D printing and Lego, to dancing and karate
  • Children progress on to some of the best independent senior and state grammar schools in the area and surrounding counties through our individual attention and time spent on each child.

What other parents say about the school:
