Year 1 Visit Gunnersbury Park

28th May 24

Year 1 took part in a very informative workshop about the Great Fire of London recently at Gunnersbury Park. Jane Birch (who worked for Samuel Pepys in 1666) had travelled in time to lead the workshop. The children helped Jane act out the main events of the Great Fire from when it began on Sunday 2nd September 1666 to when the fire was eventually put out on Thursday 6th September 1666.

They then had a delicious picnic lunch in the beautiful grounds in front of Gunnersbury House which is also now a museum. After that they went on a minibeast hunt and used magnifying glasses to observe the many creatures they found in a bug house and under logs.

The whole day was a great success especially as we actually had sunshine as well!
