Year 1 enjoyed a great day out to Windsor Castle last week. In the morning they visited Queen Mary’s Dolls’ House and the State Apartments. The children were fascinated by all the shields on the ceiling of St. George’s Hall and all the weaponry and armour they could see in many of the rooms.

In the afternoon they participated in a workshop about knights and got to try on various pieces of clothing along with armour. After that they visited St. George’s Chapel and saw the resting place of Queen Elizabeth II and King Henry VIII.

In preparation for this trip, Year 1 have been learning about the jobs people did in medieval castles. They have particularly enjoyed learning about training to be a knight. They have made their very own shields, along with pictures of knights and have written an imaginary piece about being a knight at Windsor Castle.

Information on more trips can be found in our calendar.
