Earth Day 2021

27th April 21

Last week marked Earth Day 2021 and during the week the boys across the school took part in environmentally aware activities. Reception boys have been looking at the local environment and what we can do it improve it for the creatures that live there. They have been making apples with seeds for the birds, will be planting strawberry plants and wildflowers for bees and other insects and building a bug hotel.

Year 2 and 3 learnt about the natural environment and the importance of conservation through the Old Vic’s wonderful online performance of Dr Suess’s The Lorax. Boys in Year 3 will now be making their own poster about helping the environment. In geography Year 6 have been doing their own research on climate change to create presentations which they can share with the school and in current affairs they talked about the use of plastics.

It has been fantastic to see the boys approaching the issues of conservation and caring for our local and global habitats with such enthusiasm.
