Expansion of provision at Year 3 from September 2017

25th January 17

We are delighted to announce plans to increase our provision for Year 3 from two classes to three from September 2017.

The expansion is in response to an increased level of interest from families wishing to join the school at this point. Headmaster, Mr David Price, said, “This is an exciting development for The Mall School and we are delighted that more boys will be able to experience the opportunities on offer here from Year 3, whilst still benefitting from the small classes and excellent teaching that contributes so much in preparing them for their senior schools.”

Year 3 classes will be smaller than those we have historically had in Year 3 (around 20 in each class), which will ensure we continue to offer an outstanding level of pastoral care supporting the boys and encouraging them as they prepare to move into the senior part of the school.

All boys will continue to have subject specialist teachers in Years 2 and 3 for music, computing, French, PE, swimming and games. As they move into Year 4 the boys will have, as in previous years, specialist teachers in all subjects.

Outside of the classroom, we will continue to offer all boys the same opportunities currently enjoyed by Year 3. They will all get the chance to represent the school in competitive sports fixtures and take part in group performances in music and drama. Our commitment to providing an enriched curriculum to nurture interests in non-academic areas and building the boys’ confidence and skills  has not changed and will not be affected.

As a result of the expansion there are a limited number of places still available for entry into Year 3 in September and the school is holding an open morning on Tuesday 21 February at 9.00am and an additional assessment day on Friday 24 February.
